Top Five Film Composers

Composers play a very important part when it comes to the film making process. They are the ones who write the scores to play throughout the run time of the film. Composers watch the film to see what kind of score they want to write for the film, whether it be melancholy, inspiring, epic, or happy. These people are what make a movie more engaging, and these are the five that are best at it.

Remember this is my own opinion, if there is a composer that you thought should have been on here comment down below!!!!! Please Like and Share with your friends as well took me a long while to do this one hope you all enjoy!!!!!!!!

5. John Williams

John Williams is without a doubt one of the best if not the best working composer we have today, writing iconic scores to such films like: the Star Wars franchise, the Indiana Jones franchise, ET, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, three Harry Potter movies, Superman, and the list goes on and on. Williams has been working for sixty plus years and has garnered fifty Oscar nominations, winning five, fifteen BAFTA nominations, winning seven, twenty-five Golden Globes, winning four, and has been nominated for sixty-seven Grammy's. Despite him having all of this acclaim I feel as if his last few years of scoring films haven't been the best, but nevertheless are great. In my opinion there are four composers that I have come to like over the past few years, and in some respects I feel as if my other four composers over Williams are better than him, but he is a fantastic composer and his scores will long be remembered after he is gone.

4. Ennio Morricone

Ennio Morricone is perhaps the most influential film composers ever, having made the scores for movies like: A Fist Full of Dollars, For a Few dollars more, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Once Upon a Time in the West, Once upon a Time in America and just recently The Hateful Eight. Morricone has over five hundred credited movies dating all the way back to 1960, out of the all the composers on this list he has been working the longest and his work is still aspiring people today. Even though Morricone has been working as long as he has he only has two Oscars and only one of those two is a win for best original score, the other is an honorary Oscar. His works will long be remembered after he is gone.

3. Thomas Newman

Thomas Newman is a man, who has composed some of the greatest movie soundtracks ever made. Newman has over one-hundred composer credits to his name, which includes: The Green Mile, Road to Perdition, Finding Nemo, Cinderella Man, Wall-E, Skyfall, Spectre, Passengers, and the most famous of all The Shawshank Redemption. Thomas Newman has no Oscar wins despite being one of best composers working today, he is currently sixty-one and has two upcoming scores he's composing. Thomas Newman is a composer whose scores has the power to inspire film fans and people in general he is simply one of the best and greatest composers. I hope Thomas Newman's scores will be remembered by film fans long after he is gone.

2. Hans Zimmer

Hans Zimmer slowly but surely became one of my favorite composers working today, not only has he done the score for The Lion King but has also done the scores for: The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Gladiator, Interstellar, The Last Samurai, 12 Years a Slave, Pirates of the Caribbean 2-4, Rain Man, the Sherlock Holmes movies, The Amazing Spider-man 2, Batman V. Superman, and so many more. Zimmer has one Oscar for his score for The Lion King, two Golden Globes, and four Grammy's, Zimmer is regarded as one of the best composers behind John Williams, but in my opinion he is better than John Williams. He has made some of my favorite scores to some of my favorite movies ever, for long while there he was my favorite composer and made some very moving scores that made me think. But sadly he was dethroned as my favorite composer, his scores are some of the best ever the more people listen to his music the more recognition he'll get as one of the best.

1. James Horner

James Horner was one of the best composers ever and in my opinion was the best and the most underrated composer ever, who composed movies for Aliens, Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn, Star Trek III The Search for Spock, Glory, Field of Dreams, An American Tail and Fievel goes Back, The Rocketeer, Casper, Jumanji, Balto, Mighty Joe Young, The Mask of Zorro and Legend of Zorro, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Titanic, A Beautiful Mind, Avatar, and his final three scores were Southpaw, The 33, and The Magnificent Seven. James Horner composed some of my favorite movies ever and his music inspired me so much, every piece of music he's ever written moves me so much from his epic score in Braveheart to Apollo 13 to Glory to more recently The Magnificent Seven. Horner was taken too early from us in a plane crash that happened in July of 2015, I remember where I was when I heard he died. His magnificent score in Braveheart made me realize how much I love music and how it can affect a person, Horner will be long remembered from his works he was truly one of the best and is my favorite composer ever.
