I know this is a few days late, but here are my thoughts on Warner Brothers remaking The Fugitive(1993). So it was announced this week on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, that Warner Brothers has decided to remake the remake of the original Fugitive Television show from the 60's and the remake was in 1993. Here are three reasons why I think this is a bad idea. Reason number one, the original remake was brilliant, I mean if people go back and re-watch it and see how brilliant and awesome The Fugitive(1993) they will realize this is a movie that can not be re-made.
Reason two, the performances, the two main performances by Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones are brilliant. Harrison Ford as Richard Kimble a man who is convicted of killing his wife, but he is the only one who knows that he is innocent and he is the only one who knows who killed his wife, the one armed man. He gives a brilliant performance as Richard Kimble and I can not see anyone else in this role but Harrison Ford. Tommy Lee Jones as Samuel Gerard, the man who is hunting Kimble, and he does not care if Kimble did not kill his wife or not. Jones gives an equally brilliant performance as Gerard, and even won him an Oscar for this role, they play off of each other brilliantly and I once again say there are no other two actors who could not play these characters any better.
And a third and final reason, the chemistry, the chemistry between Ford and Jones and all the other different people they come across can not be recreated in a remake and the same chemistry that was in this movie would not be in the newer remake I feel like. Ford's back and forth with Jones and everyone else he meets and vice versa for Jones was spot on in the original remake and I feel like as much as they try to recreate this chemistry they can not. I still feel like there could be hope for this movie, but it will not be able to re-create the same product as the original and plus we kinda already got a rip-off of the film this year in the form of Taken 3. I never saw Taken 3, but I have heard that it was terrible copy of The Fugitive. But, other than that this movie is a terrible idea and The original Fugitive remake is great movie and people should not watch the new remake and instead watch the original remake which is far superior in every way.
